Japan were merciless against Nigeria’s Falconets in the opening game of their Women’s World Cup campaign in Brava Park, Port Moresby on Sunday. The Falconets were undone by a Mami Ueno hat-trick, a Momiki brace and a Mary Ologbosere own goal in the 56th minute. The loss puts a huge doubt on the team’s title credentials.
Nigeria face Canada in their next game on November 16, while Japan would seek an early flight in the next round by defeating Spain at the Brava Park.
