Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau State, has told his Ekiti counterpart, Ayodele Fayose, not to abandon his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yet, but until the All Progressives Congress, APC, takes the state at the 2018 election.
“The one I am waiting for is Ekiti. I understand that after Ondo, the man has been saying he wants to come to APC; we are saying he should remain in PDP till after the election.
“We just came back from Ondo and we were recruited again yesterday to go to Rivers. What we need is your usual and continued support.
“Before now, some people were looking down on APC, but now people with ambitions for 2019 are withdrawing from the PDP and coming to the APC. We are going to Rivers and we will win the elections there.
“After that, we are moving to Anambra and that one is a done deal.”
He said that the party was well positioned to win the December 10 legislative rerun elections in Rivers,” said Lalong.
Fayose was reported few days ago to have said his successor might not emerge on the platform of the PDP, a statement widely taken to suggest the governor plans to defect to another party. But, Fayose has clarified he wouldn’t dump the PDP for the ruling APC at the centre.
