A man faking to be the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC’s net. The suspect, Christian Efe Oyovweyho allegedly impersonated Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
Oyovweyho is said to have pretended to be Adesina with the aim of swindling one Dalhatu Mohammed Galadanci, a professor at Bayero University, Kano State.
According to Galadanci, the accused had sent him a text message in July 2016, informing him of a possible appointment in the presidency. Also, the suspect had asked Galadanci to pay the sum of N300,000 to facilitate the latter’s appointment.
However, the EFCC was informed of the situation and arrested Oyovweyho. The suspect was subsequently arraigned before a Federal High Court, Thursday, in Kano on a two count charge of obtaining by false pretense.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty was granted bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum by Justice Z.B. Abubakar.
The case was adjourned till April 11, 2017, for commencement of trial.
