Herders’ Chairman Accuses Woman Of Poisoning Cows

The chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, FCT branch, Adamu Daura, has accused an unnamed woman of poisoning cows belonging to a herder, Ibrahim Madawaki.

Madawaki had lost 12 cows in strange circumstances on Monday sparking protest by some Fulani youths in the area. He was said to have lost about 42 cows within one year. The cows died after allegedly feeding from the woman’s garden in the Apo new site area in Abuja.  He called for government intervention to prevent a violent crisis in the area, noting that the situation might get out of hand if nothing was done to stop the killing of his livestock.

Daura said the people concerned should be made to pay for the dead cows. He also said veterinary doctors would test the cows to know the kind of poison they consumed.

He said the matter had been reported to the police.

The FCT Police spokesman, Manzah Anjuguri, said the Force had commenced investigation into the killing of the animals.
