Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will face the Senate today (Wednesday) for a confirmation screening. He was previously rejected by the Senate over indicting security report by the Department of State Security, DSS. It was rumoured the report was deliberately tailored to stop Magu by the DSS, headed by Mamman Daura, Buhari’s “powerful nephew”. Daura reportedly saw in Magu a loyalist of Babagana Monguna, national security adviser, who the former shares no love with. Definitely, Magu found himself at the mercy of the Senate. But the intense lobbying for his confirmation paid off Tuesday, when Senator Bukola Saraki, president of Senate, announced Magu would finally be screened at noon today.
