Senator Solomon Adeola (Lagos, APC) has implied the sack of Hammed Ali, comptroller-general of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for high-handedness.
Contributing to a motion by Senator Dino Melaye (APC, Kogi), Adeola said Ali’s refusal to back down on seizing vehicles without duty payment was an affront.
“It is high time we put to a stop the high-handedness of the comptroller-general of customs.
“He has been acting as if he is the commander in chief of Nigeria. Take for instance the issue of Nigeria Customs uniform.
“He is receiving salutes and making parades in mufti. Under him, Customs is doing bad, they behave like gangsters.
“They are burgling shops, carting away bags of rice and stealing money from safe.
“He could be recommended for a sack if this continues,” Senator Adeola said.
