NDLEA Nab Two Drug Traffickers

 

cocaine-suspectsThe National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Wednesday, arrested two drug traffickers, Lekwauma Mark Otaka, 53 and Odogwu Augustine Ike, 57, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Hamisu Lawan, NDLEA Commander at the airport, stated that the duo tested positive for narcotic ingestion during routine screening. He said Ike, an automobile dealer from Onitsha, Anambra State, was caught with 110 wraps of heroin. The latter was said to have arrived from Tanzania on an Ethiopian Airline. Also, Otaka, who was on a flight to Cambodia, was found to have inserted seven wraps of cocaine weighing 386 grammes into his anus.

“I was afraid of swallowing the drugs so I chose the insertion method. I inserted 386 grammes of cocaine into my anus in my desperation to get N1 million promised”, Otaka said.  Cocaine-287x300

On his part, Ike, a father of three said he was promised N600,000 to smuggle the drugs. He blamed his action on financial hardship.

Lawan said both suspects are currently under investigation.
