Following the Federal Government’s decision to divert Abuja-bound flights to the Kaduna Airport, passengers have shunned flights operating from the airport.
A Newsbreak.ng correspondent who was at the airport on Thursday reports that a Lagos-bound Air Peace flight, which took off at 9:40am, departed with only 50 passengers on board.
It was also gathered that Aero Contractors, Medview and Dana Air flights operating out of the Kaduna Airport also departed with very few passengers on board.
The Federal Government had hoped the hitch in travelling from Kaduna to Abuja would be eased by a free rail transport arranged for the passengers.
The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, was on the first train at 6:00am from Abuja to Kaduna to inspect the airport on Thursday.
Meanwhile, German carrier, Lufthansa, is said to have reconsidered its earlier stance and will now fly into Kaduna. Ethiopia Airlines had landed at the airport to a rousing water shower welcome on Wednesday.
