US Women Dominate FIFPro’s World Eleven

The United States of America’s women’s team had four players named in the FIFPro Women’s World XI in 2016. Estranged goalkeeper, Hope Solo, Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan and Ali Krieger were all named in the team.

The team is selected by votes from players across 47 countries. The team had Brazil’s Marta and France’s Eugenie Le Sommer.

Solo made the squad despite having not played for club or country since August, when she was dismissed from the U.S. national team for calling Sweden “cowards” in the wake of the Americans’ Olympic elimination.

Here is the World XI in full:

Goalkeeper: Hope Solo (USA, free agent)

Defenders: Leonie Maier (Germany, Bayern Munich), Nilla Fischer (Sweden, Wolfsburg), Wendie Renard (France, Lyon), Ali Krieger (USA, Orlando Pride)

Midfielders: Dzsenifer Marozsan (Germany, Lyon), Carli Lloyd (USA, Manchester City), Marta (Brazil, Rosengard)

Attackers: Alex Morgan (USA, Lyon), Ada Hegerberg (Norway, Lyon), Eugenie Le Sommer (France, Lyon)
