At least 24 persons have reportedly died between November 2015 and February 2017 following the outbreak of Lassa fever in Bauchi state.
The state Ministry of Health revealed that 37 cases were recorded in seven local government areas of the state.
The affected areas include: Tafawa Balewa, Dass, Bogoro, Toro, Alkaleri, Ganjuwa and Bauchi, the state capital.
The Ministry further revealed that a total of 18 people died in 2016 as a result of the outbreak. It added that three persons had died in 2015 and already recorded three more in 2017.
The recorded cases affected 23 females, between the ages of three and 78, and 14 males, aged between 20 and 70 years.
