Nigeria Set To Host UN World Tourism Conference

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed,  has said Nigeria is set to host the United Nations World Tourism Organization, UNTWO, conference in 2018.

Mohammed, who spoke at a meeting in Addis Ababa on Thursday, said the endorsement is an indication that the global community is confident in Nigeria.

“This is a global endorsement of programs and efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration, ” Mohammed said.

The minister, listing out the benefits the conference would award Nigeria said, no amount of money is too much to be invested in hosting the conference.

“Hosting this conference will give confidence to investors that this is a country they can come and invest in.

“It will also convince the entire world that Nigeria is serious in promoting culture, music, film and entertainment industry to diversify its economy,’’ he said,

The Secretary General of UNWTO, Taleb Rifa in his address said, Nigeria’s endorsement in hosting the 61st CAF “is a great piece of news for the country’’.

Rifa, who commended the minister’s efforts in re positioning the tourism sector said, “I am absolutely sure that with the hosting of the CAF meeting, you will see that the Nigeria’s tourism industry will get on the right track and achieve results.
