The United States embassy has denied three players of Nigeria’s beach soccer team, Super Sand Eagles, transit visas. The players need the visas in their commute to The Bahamas for the 2017 Beach Soccer World Cup.
Five out of the 12 players billed to travel were given visas last week while four more got theirs on Wednesday.
Abu Azeez, Godwin Tale, Emmanuel Owhoferia and Emeka Ogbonna were granted visas on Wednesday, while Godwin Ayalogu, Ogbonnaya Okemmiri and Taiwo Adams were denied visas for the second time. It was learnt that the team nurse, Ruth Ewelu, was also denied a visa.
Spokesman for the NFF, Ademola Olajire, confirmed the development but added that the players would join the team on Tuesday.
