Tottenham Hotspur’s U-23 coach Ugo Ehiogu has collapsed at the club’s training base on Thursday. The former England defender was said to have taken ill while conducting training. He was rushed to hospital afterwards.
The club confirmed the incident on its website.
“We can confirm that Ugo Ehiogu is currently in hospital after collapsing at our training centre earlier today,” a statement on Tottenham’s website read.
“Our under-23’s coach received immediate treatment on site from our medical staff before being transferred to hospital by ambulance.
“Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Ugo and his family.”
Ehiogu has been with Tottenham since 2014. He made over 200 appearances in his nine-year stay at Aston Villa winning the League Cup with in 1994 and 1996. He won the trophy again at Middlesbrough in 2004.
