The UEFA Champions League semifinal draw held in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. Madrid rivals, Real and Atletico will face off in one of the semifinal matches while French side Monaco will face Italian giants Juventus.
The defending champions, Real Madrid, defeated Bayern Munich in both legs with their Portuguese talisman setting a goal-scoring record of 103 goals. The Zinedine Zidane-led side will be hoping to be the first team to successfully defend their Champions League title after beating Atletico Madrid in a tense shoot-out with Ronaldo scoring the final spotkick to hand his team the trophy.
Atletico on their part defeated resolute debutants Leicester City to qualify for the semifinal. They defeated the Premier League by a lone goal in Spain and played a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium.
In the other game, Barcelona slayers, Juventus will play in-form Monaco. Juventus demolished Barca 3-0 in Italy and drew 0-0 at the Camp Nou. It could prove to be a vital win for the Old Lady should they win the trophy eventually as old war horse Gianluigi Buffon nears retirement.
The first legs will be played on 2 and 3 May while the return legs will be played on 9 and 10 of the same month.
