A woman, Modinat Jide, 43, was Thursday arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly slashing her friend’s face with a razor blade.
The accused, who hawks sachet water was said to have committed the act after the complainant, Wunmi Ajoke, said the suspect had engaged in extra marital affairs. Ajoke also questioned the paternity of the suspect’s new born baby.
The prosecutor, Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the incident occurred on April 18, at about 11.15 a.m., at Jebba Pako Estate, Okobaba. He said the suspect used a sharp blade to cut her victim’s face for calling her promiscuous.
He said the offence contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawful assault.
The magistrate, Tolu Idowu, admitted the suspect to a bail of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned till May 15 for mention.
