Suicide bombers have attacked the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID, the second this week. The first explosion was said to have gone off on Thursday night around 11pm while the other was heard at 12am.
Abu Hanifa Babati, the student union government president, confirmed the attacks to TheCable. He said the first bomber detonated the explosives around the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine after being accosted by soldiers. The second occured around BOT, a female hostel.
Victor Isuku, the spokesperson of the Borno police command, has also confirmed the attack on the university. He however said the bombers were three in number. He said they had attempted entering the female hostel before they were intercepted. He said the others had detonated theirs near a construction site. He said no lives were lost but three security guards were injured.
Recall that bombers had attacked the university about five days ago killing a security guard and injuring a soldier.
