Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti State Governor, has said that he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, if the Supreme Court says Ali Modu Sheriff is the party's rightful chairman.
Rumour had been rife over the past weeks that Fayose was leaving the PDP. The speculations got stronger after reports said he had removed the party's logo from his campaign office in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Fayose and some other members of the party have refused to recognise Sheriff as the party chairman pledging allegiance to the Makarfi-led faction. A federal high court had named Sheriff the rightful leader but the opposing faction had taken the matter to the Supreme Court.
The case will be judged on May 25, 2017 by the apex court.
