Kidnappers of the six pupils of the Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe, have reduced the ransom earlier demanded from N1 billion to N600 million, N100 million for each student. Their new demand was communicated to the parents via a phone call to the parents on Tuesday.
The gunmen stormed the school around 6am last Thursday whisking away six pupils, Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agabusi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf. They reportedly led ten pupils to their waiting boat but after careful profiling, they released four and took the remaining away.
The kidnappers had earlier called some parents of the victims on Saturday, demanding N400m each from two parents while two others were asked to pay N100m each.
Meanwhile, Olarinde Famous-Cole, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, said operatives had intensified efforts to free the children. He said the force would ensure the safe release of the pupils.
