Chairman of the Imo state Council of traditional Rulers, Sam Agumwa Ohiri has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to include monarchs in the on-going voters registration exercise.
Ohiri made the call when INEC’s Administrative Secretary, Charles Ezema, in company of Heads of Departments paid him a visit at his palace in Owerri, Imo state.
He expressed concerns over the low rate Permanent Voter’s Card, PVCs, were poorly distributed in the five states of the South East zone.
The Chairman said that the inclusion of royal fathers in the state would facilitate the distribution, both mass mobilization and assisting the officials to achieve their aims without hindrance.
Ezema said their visit to the palace was to seek his support and that of the other monarchs fo the distribution of voter’s cards.
He pleaded with eligible voters who have attained the mandatory age of 18 years and above to get registered.
