Fans of Italy’s Under-21 team, on Sunday, threw fake currency notes at goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma. The fans were acting on the news that the 18-year-old would not be signing a new deal with AC Milan when his current deal expires. The fans also displayed a banner which read, ‘Dollarumma’, following the view that the player, urged on by his agent, Mino Raiola, was holding out for more cash.
Since his emergence onto the scene in Serie A, Donnarumma has been frequently touted as the long term successor to the throne of Italian goalkeeping maestro, Gianluigi Buffon.
The Italian team went on to beat Denmark 2-0 despite the ugly incident which saw a ball boy clear the post of the cash.
