Eight Pregnant Migrants, Children Rescued In  Deadly Voyage

Eight pregnant women and nine children have been rescued from the Mediterranean Sea while attempting to cross over to Spain. According to Reuters, about 730 migrants travelling on rubber and wooden boats. The report said the migrants were saved in seven separate rescue operations.

In a similar operation on Saturday, 526 people were rescued by a ship belonging to a non-governmental organisation, the ministry said. The migrants were headed to an Italian port, it added.

On Friday, 906 migrants were rescued by humanitarian rescue ships off Libya’s shores.
