Herdsmen, Policemen In Fierce Gun Battle On Falae’s Farm

Some herdsmen, last Thursday, engaged policemen in a fierce gun battle for several hours on Olu Falae’s farm located in Kajola Village, Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State, reports say. The herdsmen, who kidnapped Falae, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in 2015, were said to have stormed the farm while the policemen were inspecting it following his complaint of an invasion by cows.

The herdsmen, numbering about 10, had opened fire on the men deployed to the area by Hilda Harrison, the Ondo State Police Commissioner, insisting they would not leave the farm because their cows grazed on it.

Falae said the men usually arrive the farm around 5am daily, feeding their cows off his produce till 9am.

Femi Joseph, the police spokesman, said although no arrests were made, the force was investigating the matter. He stated that the policemen succeeded in ridding the farm of the intruders.
