Some people are said to have been killed during a fresh communal violence that broke out in Taraba state in Northern Nigeria on Saturday.
According to PREMIUM TIMES, the incident occurred in Gembu, Nguroje and other parts of Sardauna Local Government Area of the state.
The report says the violence is suspected to be between the Kakas and Fulani ethnic groups. Angry youths reportedly took to the streets Sunday morning, destroying property and smashing vehicles.
“As I am talking to you, violence has erupted, they are attacking us, and some were killed,” a resident was quoted as saying.
The resident, who declined to give his name for security reason, said he saw three corpses. A security source allegedly confirmed the violence.
“As I am talking to you, curfew has been imposed following this crisis that ensued between the Kakas and Fulani.
“The casualty is yet to be ascertained,” the source said.
