Nobody Died In Lagos Island Gang Fight – Police

The Police in Lagos have arrested hoodlums involved in the fracas between street gangs on the Lagos Island, says spokesman Olarinde Famous-Cole. Earlier reports claimed two gangs based at Okesuna Street and Patey Street respectively had engaged in a fight that allegedly left three people dead. Although skirmishes between the two gangs are said to be usual occurrences, the latest incident was reportedly sparked by the alleged killing of one Osigin – a member of the Okesuna gang – by the Patey Street boys.

However, Famous-Cole, an assistant superintendent, denied the clash resulted in some casualties. He told Newsbreak.Ng the police had doused tension in the area, some arrests made, and that investigation into the incident was ongoing.

Also, one Attabi Aklou, male, was killed at 10, Awanatu Street, in the Oworo area of Lagos Mainland. The police told the website “Aklou was a suspected cultist and was matcheted to death by some hoodlums suspected to be members of a rival cult group. “Aklou’s corpse has been evacuated from the crime scene and deposited at the Gbagada General Hospital”, said Famous-Cole, adding the police are making effort to arrest the fleeing killers.
