Real Madrid’s President, Florentino Perez, has retained his position until 2021 after he won an election uncontested, the club said on Monday. The 70-year-old first took the position in 2000 and has overseen three Champions League titles in four seasons and a first La Liga title since 2012.
Perez will, as a matter of urgency, need to convince star player Cristiano Ronaldo to drop the idea of quitting the Santiago Bernabeu after accusations of tax fraud. He will also try to sign Monaco’s talisman, Kylian Mbappe for the side this summer.
Reports say the Frenchman, if signed, will be sent back to Monaco on loan, while he matures to tie a spot in coach Zinedine Zidane’s star-studded side.
