A banker, Daramola Solomon Ojo has been granted bail of three million naira by Magistrate O.I Adelaja for allegedly stealing N25 million belonging to a customer.
Ojo, 43, appeared before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge bordering on fraud and theft.
According to Chinalu Uwadione, the prosecuting officer, one Jerome Zannu transferred the said sum into the defendant’s account with First City Monument Bank, FCMB because he was “in the position to transfer the money to his client abroad.”
The prosecutor said rather than carry out the transfer, Ojo diverted the cash for his personal use, an offence, which is punishable Section 314 (a) and Section 287 (b) and (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos state.
Ojo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
He was granted bail of three million naira with two sureties in like sum by Magistrate O.I Adelaja.
Adelaja said the sureties must be the defendant’s blood relations and adjourned the case till August 7 for mention.
