A 27-year-old man identified as Ikechukwu Amos, has been remanded in prison for killing his boss, a Chinese woman, Alice Xu in Lagos state.
Prosecutor Chinalu Uwadione told the court that Amos beat the 26 year-old deceased to stupor, tied her hands and legs with a tape before covering her face with a polythene bag till she suffocated to death.
He said he committed the offence in the premises of a drug producing company, Green World, situated at 1 Toye Close, Akinola Crescent in Adeniyi Jones area, Ikeja, Lagos state capital.
In addition, he said the defendant stole N872,000 and $2,000 which belonged the company.
Uwadione said his offences contravened Section 222 and is punishable under Section 223 and Section 287 (5) (a), Cap C17, Vol. 3 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state.
Amos, however, could not take any plea.
Presiding Magistrate, O.I Adelaja ordered the defendant be remanded in prison custody.
She adjourned the case till August 21, pending advise from Department of Public Prosecution, DPP.
