AGF Orders Customs CG To Reinstate Retired Comptroller

Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has directed Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.), the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, to reinstate Abdullahi Gusau, a retired Comptroller, as directed by the Supreme Court.

Gusau had approached the High Court alleging wrongful sack. Displeased with the ruling of the High Court, he proceeded to the Court of Appeal which ordered his reinstatement as a comptroller and payment of benefits as well as accord him his promotions.. The Supreme Court, in a ruling by Justice Walter Onnoghen, affirmed the ruling in April.

Gusau was promoted to the rank of a comptroller on January 1, 2000. He was retired on December 21, 2009.
