An insight may have been given into the negotiations between the Peoples Democratic Party and some federal lawmakers from the All Progressives Congress willing to defect to the former.
Some APC senators and members of House of Representatives were alleged to have demanded from the PDP automatic return tickets before they could defect to the party.
A report quoting a top source privy to the negotiations confirmed that “apart from some former governors and ex-leaders who defected to APC, the opposition party has opened talks with some Senators and members of the House of Representatives to defect to PDP”
It also said the PDP considered their targets as having ‘electoral assets’ and believed their defection would make APC’s defeat an easy one in the 2019 elections.
The APC members being sought, as the report said, are “a few of senators who are technically no longer in APC due to alleged disagreement with their governors and party leaders”.
One of such senators was said to have admitted he was planning to join the PDP, while a House of Reps member allegedly admitted that demand for “return ticket is certainly a major issue if we are to go back to PDP.”
