Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Acting President, has approved Dayo Apata as the new Solicitor General of the Federation. The appointment was approved in a statement issued on Friday.
Apata, born on June 25, 1961, was Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice in Ekiti from 2010 and 2014 under the Kayode Fayemi administration. He also served as legal adviser national planning ministry and also held several sensitive assignments. He joined the federal civil service as a legal officer at the Ministry of Justice. He attended the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo state, where he sat for and passed University of Cambridge higher school local examination in 1980. He proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he graduated amongst the first set of Law graduates in 1984. He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1985.
He worked with the Eastern Zone of Nigeria customs service as an assistant legal adviser, prosecuting and defending customs cases in the eastern zone.
