ASUU, Others Reject LAUTECH’s Resumption Order

The Academic Staff Union of Universities and other workers’ unions at the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomoso, have said they will not resume on Friday (Today) as directed by the institution’s governing council.

Biodun Olaniran, the Chairman of ASUU, LAUTECH chapter and Muraina Alesinloye, Chairman of the Joint Action Committee, told The Punch that they rejected the order because they were not aware of the development.

Olaniran said the union was not aware the institution had announced a resumption date. He said the strike had been embarked upon because the governments of Oyo and Osun states who jointly own the school, were owing 11 months salaries, pensions and earned academic allowances. He stated that the lecturers would remain on strike until the demands are met.

LAUTECH has been shut for eight months following the dispute between its workers and the Osun and Oyo state governments.
