S’East Govs, Army Chief Meet Today

Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff and the South East governors are expected to hold an emergency meeting today Friday, September, 2017.

The meeting has become necessary following the recent IPOB and military clash in Abia state.

The governors had in their last meeting with the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, appealed to the Federal Government to allow it resolve all IPOB related issues.

South-East governors had on August 30, 2017, met with Nnamdi Kanu and other leaders of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB.

Dave Umahi, the Ebonyi state governor, who is also the chairman of the forum told reporters after the previous meeting that it was strictly a peace talk.

According to him, the governors have appealed to the leadership of IPOB and other concern citizens to allow them the opportunity to address the issues they have raised.

Governor Umahi said the forum would engage the IPOB leadership in its subsequent meetings to ensure all issues were amicably resolved.
