The House of Representatives have summoned Prof. Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health, over the outbreak of Monkeypox in the country. The House expressed concern that the disease was spreading and the ministry seemed helpless without the help of the World Health Organisation, WHO.

Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Disease Control confirmed that 31 monkeypox cases had been reported in Bayelsa, Rivers, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Rivers and Ogun states.
