2018 W/Cup: Eagles Can Qualify For Knockout Phase – Fans (Video)

Some football fans have expressed optimism that the Super Eagles will qualify for the knockout phase of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup. Nigeria has been drawn in Group D alongside Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.

Although some football pundits in the country have not shared same sentiment, fans who shared their opinion with Newsbreak.ng, believe form and dedication displayed by the players during the qualification will give them the edge against their group opponents at the tournament.

Ifeanyi Alozie, said the quality in the team will see Nigeria through from the group. “We will qualify, with the quality the Eagles have right now, they will qualify,” he said.

Another fan, Isaac Adewusi, who also expressed confidence in the team, predicted the outcome of Eagles last group game against Argentina. He said: “Nigeria will qualify from the group. By the grace of God, Nigeria will beat Argentina by three goals to nothing”.

However, Bright Nwachukwu, expressed doubts over Nigeria’s qualification from the group, saying Croatia is a bigger threat than Argentina. “It is kind of dicey. My fear is not Argentina, but Croatia. They are a very technically sound team. I don’t know how possible it is to qualify from that group,” he stated.

Chris Anyim, said Nigeria’s qualification from the so-called “group of death” in the qualifiers will help the team scale through from the group. “Because we made it out of our group during the qualifiers, we will qualify from this group,” he expressed.

Moreso, Balogun Debo, recalled that the Eagles’ victory against the Albiceleste of Argentina in an international friendly on November 14, is a pointer to  the mental quality in the team. “We beating Argentina in the present Eagles’ form shows that going to the World Cup, we are prepared,”he opined.

Nigeria, who would be making a sixth appearance at the tournament next year, will face Croatia in its first group game on June 16, then debutant Iceland on June 22. The Super Eagles will then face perennial World Cup group rivals Argentina in the final group game on June 26.
