Alleged Abductor Of CBN Governor’s Wife Dies In Custody

Umar Abubakar, who allegedly led four others to abduct the wife of Godwin Emefiele, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has died in custody. He was said to have died of injuries sustained during a gun battle with policemen in 2016.

Abubakar, also known as Kerewa, along with the other suspects, Mohammed Yusuf, Edwin George, Musa Maidabara, and Ernest Uduefe, were to be arraigned before Justice Babatunde Quadri of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.

Quadri has adjourned the arraignment of the surviving defendants until December 14, 2017.
