The Nigerian Army has dismissed a commander over a string of deadly Boko Haram attacks in his area of operation, according to the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC.
The army didn’t give any reason for dismissing Maj. Gen Attahiru Ibrahim, who earlier was given a-40 day deadline to capture Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau dead or alive. On Wednesday, the army removed General Attahiru as the commander of the Lafiya Dole operation – the codename for its anti-Boko Haram fight. He was replaced with Maj. General Rogers Nicholas, who formerly headed the logistics department at the army headquarters.
There has not been any official statement from the Nigerian Army.
