Mohammed Sanusi, General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has said that the Super Eagles will play against England in a friendly match in June, 2018. Sanusi, according to Sky Sports, said there is no confirmation of the venue and other details yet.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group D along with Argentina, Iceland and Croatia. The Eagles have been drawn with the South Americans in five of their six World Cup appearances. England, on their part, have been drawn in Group G with Belgium, Panama and Tunisia.
The last time Nigeria played against England in a friendly was in 1994 where the Europeans won 1-0 courtesy of a David Platt goal. The two sides also met in the group stages of the Korea/Japan World Cup in 2002 where they played a goalless draw.
The Three Lions will play a friendly against Netherlands on March 23, 2018 before facing Italy on the 27th of the same month.
