Adeniyi Ademola, a judge of the Federal High Court, has voluntarily resigned from the bench. He tendered his resignation letter to the National Judicial Council (NJC) on Thursday morning, but gave no reason for it.
Some months ago, Justice Ademola, alongside his wife, was tried for graft. The Department of State Services claimed to have discovered N38 million, two pump action rifles and some foreign currencies in Ademola’s home following a raid. The judge, alongside his wife, would later be arraigned for money laundering and abuse of office before an FCT High Court of money laundering and abuse of office charges. In October, the court freed Ademola and his wife.
He was subsequently recalled by the National Judicial Council, NJC, to his duty post, a decision the federal government said was hasty and claimed the judge still had a case to answer.
