Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos, has approved the payment of bonuses to state workers. The governor, in a circular issued on Wednesday, acknowledged the “dedication and commitment to duties of all public/civil servants in Lagos state”.
The circular further stated that the governor graciously approved the payment of 30 per cent of basic salary to all political appointees, public/civil servants in the month of December 2017. The governor’s gesture wouldn’t come as a surprise to many given Lagos enviable status as Nigeria’s richest state and, also the one with the biggest debt stock. The state is unarguably the commercial life wire of the Nigerian economy.
