FIFA has ranked Nigeria 51 in its year ending ranking released on Thursday. Nigeria was previously ranked 50 in November.
In Africa, Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, climbed a place ahead of Nigeria and are now ranked 50th in the world.
Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, DR Congo and Morocco are the top five teams in Africa.
Meanwhile, Germany are FIFA’s number one ranked team in the World, having ended 2017 on top of the global ladder. Brazil, Portugal, Argentina -Nigeria’s world cup opponent – and Belgium complete the teams in the top five.
Nigeria’s two other world cup Opponents; Croatia and Iceland end the year in 17th and 22nd spots.
