The Nigerian army has appointed Major General Rogers Nicholas the new theatre commander in the Northeast, after serving previously as Commander of the special Security Task Force (operation safe Haven) in Jos. The military said the redeployment was meant to intensify its fight against the Boko Haram insurgent in the region. General Nicholas replaced former theatre commander, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, who also formerly served as Director of Administration, Defence Headquarters and General Officer Commanding, GOC, 82 Division, Enugu.
