PDP Alleges Plot To Disrupt Convention

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said some top government officials of the All Progressives Party, APC, are planning to disrupt it forthcoming national convention in Abuja on Saturday. Dayo Adeyeye, the party’s spokesman, who cited ‘intelligence report’, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call to order his overzealous officials who are bent on sabotaging the convention. Adeyeye told reporters on Wednesday that if not checked, the plot could derail the convention.
The PDP spokesman pleaded with President Buhari to ensure adequate security cover for the event, saying no attempts were made to disrupt public events organised of opposition parties during the 16 years reign of the PDP.
The party urged members of the public and party supporters without any business with the convention to stay away from the venue. Adeyeye said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will attend the event and also address the convention. Atiku rejoined the PDP last week after resigning from the All Progressives Congress.
