Abducted Monarch’s Wife Regains Freedom

Kidnappers have released Tina Inegbagha, wife of King Righteous, paramount ruler of Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The abductors also released the principal of  Government Craft Development Centre, Ayakoro, Egbele Jack, who was kidnapped alongside the monarch’s wife.

Tina and Jack regained their freedom after spending 25 days in the kidnappers’ den.

They were abducted by the gunmen on December 16, 2017 and taken to an unknown destination, a development that threw the community into panic and mourning.

The assailants had reportedly disrupted the peace of the community at about 2am on that day when they struck with three AK47 rifles, machetes and other weapons.

The kidnappers operated in the community for two hours, looting property and other valuables worth millions of naira.

Efforts of youths in the community to confront the kidnappers were futile because they were fully armed.

Details on how the victims were rescued and the paid ransom are yet to be disclosed.

A member of the monarch’s family, Majesty Inegbagha, who confirmed the development on Saturday, said the victims were released on Thursday.

Majesty, however, said that an undisclosed ransom was paid to secure their release. He added that the kidnappers earlier demanded N100m as ransom and reduced it to N30m and later N5m as the families of the victims kept begging for its reduction.

Commenting on his wife’s release, the elated Inegbagha expressed deep appreciation to God and the people who gave their support to facilitate the release of the duo.

Moreso, the victims expressed happiness and thanked God for their release.
