Manchester City winger, Leroy Sane has attributed his successful career at Etihad to his coach, Pep Guardiola.
In a recent interview, he revealed that Guardiola advised him to play like Lionel Messi.
The German International, who is enjoying a good season at Etihad after a challenging start, has indeed made great impact on the team.
Sane has become one of the key figures at the club this season.
“I needed a little time to settle, to know the Premier League, the people here, how they are and to know the players. I had to find my confidence.
“Pep told me to play with freedom like Lionel Messi, not like Messi – it’s impossible!
“Be free like Messi, have fun, do things like he wants from a striker like the end of the space near goal – take the option to shoot or give an assist.”
"It’s really nice to see how it will go,” he revealed.
Sane's nine goals and six assists has helped the Cityzens in their rise to the top of the league table and progression to the last 16 of the Champions League this campaign.
So far this season, he has equalled his total scoring record of last season in all competitions.
