Suspected Ritualists Arrested In Osun


Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the police have arrested three suspected ritual killers in Bolurunduro area of Ilesa, Osun State.

The suspects, Kayode Olaniyi, a 40-year-old herblist; Sunday Ojo, 30; and Kayode Ezekiel, 35 were arrested at their hideout by the security operatives who acted on a tip off. The officers were said to have also recovered tools used for rituals from the den.

The state public relations officer, NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, confirmed the arrest. He said a motorcycle rider, who escaped a kidnap attempt by the ritualists informed the agency of the hideout.

“An Okada rider, who said he escaped being kidnapped by the gang, reported to our office in Ilesa that some criminals were using a building at Odi Olowo, Bolurunduro area of Ilesa for ritual purposes.

“Our men along with some armed policemen went to the building and arrested three men at the shrine. Their telephone sets were also seized and the suspects were taken to the police station for further investigation,” he said.

Afolabi further advised residents in the state to be vigilant and cautious of the activities in their environments. He said this would help the agency make the state safe and free from criminals. recalled that security agents had arrested some suspected ritual killers, who killed a student of the Osun State University in 2017.
