Armed Robbers Shoot First Class Graduate To Death

A first class graduate of the Federal University, Lafia, Nasarawa state, was one of two students shot to death by suspected armed robbers.

The unnamed student had graduated from the department of English and was in the school to do his clearance. The robbers, as gathered, stormed the students’ village at Mararaba-Akunza, opposite the university gate, at about 10:30 pm, shooting sporadically. By the time the shootings stopped, the two victims had been felled, said Kennedy Idirisu, a deputy superintendent and spokesman for the Nasarawa police Command.

The police said the university’s registrar alerted them to the robbery scene.

However, the robbers had made away with students’ valuables by the time the police arrived the scene.

He said the police have commenced investigation into the incident.

The university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Sanusi-Liman has declared a day of mourning  in honour of the slain students.
