If I Die Fighting FG, So Be It – Dino Melaye

Senator Dino Melaye, (APC, Kogi), has vowed to fight the charge of misinformation the federal government filed against him, even at risk to his life.
The charge said Sen. Melaye misinformed the police about an attempt on his life last year, in which he fingered Edward Onoja, an aide to Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello. The charge also said Melaye admitted in a phone conversation with Muhammadu Abubakar, the son of late Audu Abubakar, that he deliberately framed Onoja and would ensure he got punished using his connections with the police top brass.
In what seemed his first official statement to the charge, Melaye on Tuesday said he was a victim but turned into an accused.
He said: “The same police who paraded the assassinators, their weapons, the car they used, have confessional statements of suspects, ask me who are my suspects now colluding with Minister of Justice to arraign me for misinformation over a case that is in Court where the court have accepted the statements of suspects as exhibits” , said the senator.
“Me (sic) a victim of assassination attempt is now to face trial. I will fight you all with the last drop of blood in my body.
“I will never be cowed or made to be silent over perfidy, corruption, injustice and maladministration either in Kogi or the presidency … If I die in the process so be it.”
Moreover, the senator posted a video showing seven suspects who the police paraded as masterminds of the assassination attempt last year.
One of those paraded was a caretaker chairman of Ojumu Local Government, Taofiq Isah, but who vehemently denied the allegation.
