Segun Oluwole, a married man, has been arrested for the death of the father of his lover, Nafisat, in the Ope Ilu area of Ogun state. The suspect was said to have caused the blood pressure of the deceased, Mukaila Afolabi, to overshoot its limit causing his death. Punch Metro reports that Oluwole had allegedly placed a fetish pot in the front of Nafisat's shop.
Afolabi and Nafisat's brother, seeing him drive by, had stopped him and insisted he removed the pot. It was while he was trying to escape that the deceased had jumped into the passenger seat of his car. He was said to have been breathing heavily after the incident causing him to slump. He was rushed to a hospital, where they were told his blood pressure had risen drastically. He died afterwards.
Oluwole was arrested by a police team led by Sunday Omonijo, the Divisional Police Officer of the Agbado Police Division. He denied causing the death of the deceased. He said he had been beaten by Afolabi's children. He alleged that he had slumped as he was about entering his own car.
A neighbour, who gave her name simply as Rasheedat, said residents had wanted to get the suspect arrested penultimate Saturday, but were prevented by his mother. She stated that the mother fled the community after learning of Afolabi’s death.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the command had commenced investigations.
