Mega Party Changes Name

The Mega Progressive People’s Party, MPPP, has gotten the approval of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to change it name to Mega Party of Nigeria, MPN.

Hamisu Santuraki, chairman of the party and the National Secretary, Mohammed Shombi Kanze, told newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja that the commission approved the decision of the party members, saying it was good for the nation’s democracy.

Santuraki said the party would meet to change its logo after the proposed one was rejected by INEC.

INEC said it approved the new name for the party in accordance with the relevant provisions of the constitution of the party.

Meanwhile, the forum of state chairmen who were also automatic members of the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party, disowned a purported national convention in Abuja organised by Olayinka Akanni, a former acting national chairman of the party.
