Police Arrest 57 Cultists During Initiation



The Lagos state Police command has arrested 57 members of the dreaded Aiye Confraternity cult group. The suspects were said to have been arrested during their initiation rites in a forest, located at Abule Egbanu, Elemoro, in the Ajah area of Lagos state.

The Divisional Police Officer, Mohammed Shehu Limawa, alongside men of the Anti-Cultism of the Command, were said to have stormed the forest following a tip-off.

The suspects were paraded at the state’s police command after a press briefing on Monday.

Some of the suspects are, Charles Sunday, 32, Toye Ashogbon, 25, Uchena Mark, 22, Samuel Oluwatayo, 21, Ibrahim Gafaru, 22, Innocent Joseph, 28, Edema Joseph, 26, Adegoke Tobi, 21, Talabi Akeem, 23, among others.

Recovered from the suspects were two locally made cut to sized guns, three live cartridges and twenty-two expended cartridges.

Also recovered were five vehicles - two Suzuki mini buses, one Volkswagen bus, one Mitsubishi space wagon and two Toyota camry.

The police said the suspects would be charged to court after investigation is concluded.
